SHELBY COUNTY – Two people were killed after a head-on crash in the area of State Road 9 and County Road 750N in Shelby County on Saturday night. At least two others were injured in the collision, including a child.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department responded at 9:40 p.m. and says a van traveling north on S.R. 9 struck the back of a hay baler being pulled by a tractor. The initial investigation indicates that the van then proceeded into the southbound lane and struck an RV head-on.
The driver and the passenger of the van were killed in the crash. A child in the van was taken to Riley Children’s Hospital and the driver of the RV was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital. The tractor driver and the passengers in the RV were not seriously injured.
Shelby County Sheriff Louie Koch says the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department is working with Indiana State Police (ISP) reconstructionists on the investigation of the accident.
