COLUMBUS, IND. – Four new Columbus Police Department (CPD) officers were sworn in by Mayor Jim Lienhoop during the Board of Public Works meeting held Tuesday at Columbus City Hall.
Kareem Ash (CPD #287) is a graduate of Columbus East High School and earned an Associate’s Degree from Ivy Tech. He was recently employed at the Bloomington Police Department as a patrol officer.
Daniel Craig (CPD #288), from Batesville, is a 2018 graduate of Jac-Cen-Del High School in Osgood. He previously was a Reserve Officer for the Lawrenceburg Indiana Police Department.
Chelcie Ragsdale (CPD #289) resides in Columbus and attended Ivy Tech Community College. She previously served in the United States Marine Corps.
Drew Yeley (CPD # 290) is a graduate of Columbus East High School and later enlisted in the Indiana National Guard where he served for six years as a Military Police Officer. He also previously worked as a Corrections Officer with the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office. Drew is the son of retired Columbus Police Officer Craig Yeley (#122) and the grandson of retired CPD officer Ed Yeley (#16).
Officer Ash will start the Columbus Police Department’s field training program soon. Officers Craig, Ragsdale, and Yeley are set to begin their training at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in August.
