GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) says that both juvenile girls who were pulled from a Greenwood pond on Wednesday evening have succumbed to their injuries and died. The Marion County Coroner’s Office is conducting autopsies to determine the exact cause of death.
Indiana Conservation officers were dispatched to the area of the 1200 block of Edgewater Drive in the Clear Brook Subdivision, at around 7:50 p.m., after two juveniles did not resurface after they were separated from a group playing in the water.
The Greenwood Fire and Police Departments were able to recover the young girls in approximately 15 feet of water about 20 minutes later. They were rushed to Franciscan Health Hospital and Community South in critical condition. By Thursday evening, both had died.
The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be released by DNR when they become available.
