COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Michigan man was arrested late Saturday night after he was observed driving the wrong way on Third Street. A Columbus Police Department (CPD) officer saw a vehicle traveling head-on towards him on Third Street, near Sycamore Street, just before midnight.
Police pulled over the wrong-way driver, later identified as Andrew T. Chandler, 31, of Mason, Michigan. While speaking with Chandler, the officer said he noticed that the man’s speech was slurred. CPD also observed several alcoholic beverage containers inside his vehicle.
After failing several field sobriety exercises, the suspect submitted to a blood draw at Columbus Regional Health.
Chandler was later placed under arrest and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was remanded on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (endangerment).
