COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) has welcomed an additional K-9 officer to the law enforcement family. The new police dog is named Szabi and is partnered with Deputy Dylan Prather.
BCSO K-9 officers assist in tracking and apprehending wanted suspects, protect BCSO personnel, search for criminals, search for and rescue missing people, locate evidence at crime scenes, and make vehicle inspections.
Szabi replaces K-9 Diesel who died in the line of duty, chasing a suspect, last November.
Other BCSO K-9s are “Bravo,” handled by Deputy Leah Burton, and “Jari,” working with Deputy Brandon Sellers.
