COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Police Department (CPD) arrested a man on several charges after a traffic stop in east Columbus early Monday. Just after midnight, officers pulled over a car, operated by Dana Jackson, 51, of Columbus, near Indiana and Gladstone Avenues.
While speaking with the driver, police said that his eyes seemed bloodshot and his speech slurred. Law enforcement administered several field sobriety tests that the man supposedly did not pass. A K-9 officer alerted to the smell of narcotics inside the vehicle.
During a search, CPD allegedly found methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug-related items in the car. The suspect was transported to Columbus Regional Health for a blood draw and then taken into custody.
Jackson was booked for possession of meth, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a legend drug, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, driving while suspended, and operating a vehicle without receiving a license.
