FRANKLIN, Ind. – The first jury trial in Johnson County, following the expiration of the Indiana Supreme Court’s COVID-19 moratorium, commenced on Monday. A jury was selected to hear a case against 31-year-old Dalbag Singh, of Greenwood, for drunk driving charges which allegedly occurred on January 14, 2020.
After further evidence was presented at the trial, Singh changed his plea to guilty and admitted to the charges against him. The jury was then excused.
Prosecutor Joe Villanueva was happy to reach that outcome. “It is rare for an individual to decide to plead guilty halfway through a trial. That decision serves as a testament to not only the readiness of my attorneys but also the strength of cases we bring against people who get charged with crimes in Johnson County.”
