SEYMOUR, Ind. – The Seymour Police Department (SPD) is rolling out its new body-worn camera system.
The new COBAN units feature a 270° field of view, and improved reliability, video, and audio quality compared to the outgoing units. They also have a 30-second playback feature that loads a previous 30 seconds onto the recording prior to activation.
SPD has used body cams continuously since 2007 and this is the fifth generation of the devices since the first implementation. They replace the aging cameras which have reached the end of their lifecycle.
Body-worn cameras are used any time SPD officers are on a call or in contact with the public.
