COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus East High School has named Ed Vogel as its new head football coach, replacing the retiring Bob Gaddis. Vogel has served as the math department chair since 2007 and as an assistant coach at East since 2002. He was the head coach at Evansville Bosse from 1999-2001 and coached under Gaddis for one season at Evansville Reitz in the mid-1990s.
“We are excited that Columbus East has the ability to bring in Coach Vogel who understands both the physical and mental requirements for this position. His experience within the program will be a tremendous asset,” stated Athletic Director Pete Huse.
East Principal Mark Newell added his approval to the hire, “We are very happy to have Mr. Vogel leading the football program. He is student-centered and first-class in everything that he does.”
Vogel expressed his excitement by saying, “First and foremost, I am truly invested in Columbus and the Columbus East High School community. I take pride in what I do as a teacher in the classroom, in providing leadership as department chair, and as a part of the football tradition that has been built.”
