COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus Regional Health (CRH) spokeswoman Kelsey Declue says the hospital is excited to announce that its first shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine is expected to arrive in the next 10 to 12 days. She says CRH should receive some doses by December 15 or 16, based on what the Indiana State Department of Health has told hospital authorities.
CRH will have a 20-day window to administer the vaccine to essential healthcare workers during Indiana’s Phase 1 of the distribution. While DeClue is not sure about how much of the vaccine CRH will receive, it appears to be on the higher end of what it was expecting.
The hospital has a vaccine clinic in place at 1702 Keller Ave., near the main campus. It will be open six days per week and will be an appointment-based clinic. Eligible individuals will be notified when they can set up an appointment to receive the vaccine. Everyone will need to get two inoculations, which will be given 21 to 28 days apart.
DeClue says Indiana will deliver the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines to CRH. Depending on how many doses are received, CRH will prioritize healthcare workers first, and then anyone who regularly comes in close contact with patients. The COVID-19 vaccine will be available to the public at a later date.
