GREENWOOD, Ind. – Out of an abundance of caution to help mitigate and slow the spread of COVID-19, the city of Greenwood announced Thursday that it was canceling KiD CiTY Christmas and Breakfast with Santa.
“As cases continue to rise in Indiana and around the nation, we are encouraging residents to keep holiday gatherings to limited numbers,” said Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers. “Both of these city events were to take place indoors and typically attract hundreds of attendees, so we’ve made the tough decision to cancel.”
However, Greenwood Parks and Recreation is working with Duke Energy to provide an outdoor and socially distant holiday lighted trail throughout the Amphitheater Park starting on December 5. The lights will be on from dusk to dawn throughout the holiday season.
“Our hope is to continue to provide socially distant and safe activities for residents and visitors during the holiday season,” said Greenwood Parks & Recreation Director Rob Taggart.
