INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) is encouraging residents to spend the month of September learning about the state’s potential disasters.
IDHS emergency management director Erin Rowe said, “Indiana is now experiencing more frequent and intense severe weather throughout the year. Taking the time to talk with loved ones about disaster preparedness is crucial to reducing the anxiety and losses that accompany disasters, especially during these trying times.”
Hoosiers are encouraged to create a family emergency communications plan, assemble a disaster preparedness kit, and identify the different types of disasters that can happen.
