SEYMOUR, Ind. – Indiana State Police responded to a two-vehicle, head-on crash near Seymour on Thursday afternoon that sent a Jackson County man to an Indianapolis hospital with serious injuries.
The initial investigation indicates an SUV driven by Albert Ball, 72, of Seymour, was traveling north on County Road 760E, just north of Seymour. For an unknown reason, Ball’s vehicle veered into the southbound lane and into the path of a car being driven by David Weghorst, 66, of Columbus, and the two vehicles collided.
Ball was reportedly trapped in his car until emergency personnel arrived. After being freed, he was flown to an Indianapolis hospital with serious injuries. Weghorst suffered minor injuries and was treated at, and later released from, Schneck Medical Center.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
