COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) welcomed Seth Burton to its family on Tuesday morning. He was sworn in by Mayor Jim Lienhoop at city hall during the weekly Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.
Burton has already obtained his state of Indiana Firefighter I & II certifications. He will undergo a CFD familiarization training program and will then receive a shift and station assignment.
Burton, 25, is a 2013 graduate of Columbus North High School and has three years of firefighting experience with the Columbus Township Fire Department. The latest recruit is also an EMT, a rope rescue technician, a confined space rescue technician, a vehicle extrication technician, and a certified fire instructor.
With the hiring of firefighter Burton, the Columbus Fire Department is at full staffing.
