EDINBURGH, Ind. – The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) is investigating a Wednesday morning train vs. box truck accident on County Road 650S, near US 31, north of Edinburgh. The driver of the truck has been identified as Jacob Murdick, 24, of Middletown, Indiana.
Deputies say that the truck driver was westbound on County Road 650S when he apparently ran a stop sign, intending to beat the train. The rear of the vehicle was struck by the northbound train.
Murdick, complaining of pain, was transported by ambulance to Johnson Memorial Health in Franklin.
JCSO deputies continue to investigate the crash with the assistance of the Indiana State Police, who will perform a commercial vehicle inspection on the white box truck.
