VERSAILLES, Ind. – Thirty-seven probationary troopers recently graduated from the 79th Indiana State Police (ISP) Recruit Academy. After completing over 1000 hours of structured hands-on and scenario-based training, six of the new troopers were assigned to the ISP-Versailles Post to begin a three-month field training period.
Among the graduates is 23-year-old Austin Straub, a 2015 graduate of Columbus Christian High School. He received a Criminal Justice degree from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis in 2019. He previously worked for the Bartholomew County Community Corrections Center. Trooper Straub currently lives in Brown County.
Upon completion of the ISP-Versailles District Field Training Program, all six probationary troopers will receive their police vehicles and begin solo patrol in southeastern Indiana.
