COLUMBUS, Ind. - The Bartholomew County Highway Department will be closing Pond Drive and a portion of County Road 650W (Granview Lake area) to all traffic on Monday, June 1, from approximately 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Motorists should avoid this area during the asphalt overlay project.
The work is scheduled to be finished in one day, so all construction traffic, equipment, supplies, and dumpsters must be away from the asphalt and the edges of the pavement.
No injuries in Sunday morning fire at Candlelight Village; 2 houses damaged
COLUMBUS, Ind. - The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) responded to an early Sunday morning fire that was apparently caused by discarded charcoal ashes. It affected two mobile homes in Candlelight Village.

SEYMOUR, Ind. - UPDATE: Authorities say the deceased in the Saturday evening accident is a 12-year-old from New Albany. There were four vehicles involved in the crash: a semi, a pickup, and two cars. The child was in the backseat of one of the cars. Three others in that car were airlifted to area hospitals.
