BUTLERVILLE, Ind. – A Jennings County Sheriff’s Office deputy was recently on patrol in Butlerville on US 50, when a van allegedly crossed the centerline and nearly struck his patrol vehicle head-on.
A traffic stop was initiated and the officer spoke with the van’s driver, Natasha Goins, who happens to be the Jennings County Jail Commander.
The deputy said that he observed signs of alcohol impairment and immediately notified the Indiana State Police. After the investigation, Goins was arrested and booked into the Ripley County Jail.
A Jennings County Sheriff’s Office statement read, “We remain dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents, and we hold our personnel to the highest standards of conduct.”
The suspect has been placed on unpaid administrative leave.
